Hilbert is a 2.5-year-old Domestic Shorthair who’s ready to trade his stray-life start for a stable, loving home. He originally came to ACS after being found outdoors as a stray, and he was soon adopted by a kind person who adored him. Unfortunately, due to unexpected financial restraints, they were no longer able to keep him and made the difficult decision to return him so he could find a home that can fully support his needs.<br/><br/>During his intake exam, we learned that Hilbert is FIV-positive. This is completely manageable and doesn’t stop him from living a long, happy life—but it does mean he’ll need to be indoor-only so his immune system stays protected. He’s healthy, active, and full of personality; he just needs a safe environment and a dedicated human to love.<br/><br/>And personality? Oh, Hilbert has plenty! He’s an energetic, playful goofball who LOVES wand toys, anything catnip-filled, and turning everyday moments into entertainment. His zoomies are legendary, but once he’s gotten the wiggles out, he transforms into a certified couch potato. He’s also a proud member of the Clean Plate Club—this chubby little man thinks snacks are one of life’s greatest joys.<br/><br/>Hilbert prefers to be the only pet and isn’t a match for dogs or other cats. He can also get a little mouthy and grabby when he’s excited, so he would do best in an adult household or with older children who understand playful cat antics.
