Henry's Story

This little turkey showed up on rural property the week of Thanksgiving. While he made his presence known, getting to him across a barbed wire fence where he was camped out in overgrown bramble was a challenge, but on Thanksgiving Day, we had him.

Henry is one true little warrior! How he ended up on his own at such a young age is anyone’s guess. He was out there long enough to have developed mange, but his hardships did not spoil his spirit or turn him feral. He is the gentlest, most loving little guy who is certainly grateful for his indoor lifestyle. His first 6 months of life are already a distant memory.

Now neutered, vaccinated, and parasite-free, negative for FIV/FeLV, and microchipped, Henry is ready for his forever home. He is good with cats and with cat-friendly dogs, but he is also very suitable as an only pet and deserves to be spoiled rotten.

If interested in meeting Henry, please send an e-mail to theamericanstreetcat[at]gmail.com and request an adoption application.

Adoption fees apply so that we can continue to support animals in need.

We engage in e-mail or phone correspondence and review an adoption application prior to arranging any meetings. Applications can be requested via e-mail. A standard adoption fee applies to ALL of our rescues, and an adoption contract must be agreed to and signed. A meeting with your potential pet in its foster home is required. An approved application and a scheduled meeting does not guarantee an adoption. A home check is required before final placement. We are not a shelter with operating hours, but rather individuals with day jobs fostering in our own homes with our own resident cats. Meetings are arranged by e-mail appointment only. See the "Adopting a Friend" section for more information. NOTE: If you have found or trapped cats, or need to relinquish your own, please contact stationary shelters in your area. We do not handle public intakes.
