Hemlock's Story

Meet Hemlock
If you're looking for a sassy, chunky tuxedo queen with a whole lot of personality-Hemlock is ready to claim her throne in your home.

Hemlock came to us in September 2024 after being rescued from a hoarding situation in Indiana, PA. Like many cats from tough beginnings, she carries a bit of emotional history, but don't let that fool you-this girl knows exactly what she wants, and she's not shy about telling you. She's got opinions, and she'll happily share them (with full dramatic flair, of course).

While Hemlock has lived with cats her whole life, she clearly appreciates her space. She'd likely do best either solo or with one or two chill, cat-friendly roommates who know how to mind their business. That said, she does have a soft spot for Spruce, one of the cats she came in with. While not officially bonded, the two get along beautifully and could be adopted together if you're looking to keep the duo intact.

Hemlock is quirky, bold, and always entertaining. She LOVES food, HATES the vet, tolerates being touched (on her terms), and is more than ready for her next loyal servant-er, human. Once she's comfortable, she bonds closely with her chosen person and will show you her sweet side... between demanding snacks.

For anyone who loves a cat with spunk, spark, and just the right amount of sass-Hemlock is your girl.

Starlight Stray Sanctuary's adoption process is conducted online via Shelterluv. Applicants, whether for general adoption or a specific cat, apply through our online portal. We strive to review applications within 72 hours, acknowledging the volunteer-driven nature of our organization. Our approach prioritizes thoughtful matching over a first-come-first-served basis. Requirements include stable housing with proof of ownership or landlord consent, age 18 or older, and up-to-date vet records for existing pets. Upon approval, applicants can schedule meet and greets. As a foster-based organization without a facility, the process may take a bit longer, utilizing foster homes and partners for meeting locations.
