Helena's Story

Meet Helena, a lovely black panther who came to Second Chance from a hoarding situation with 8 other kittens, some of whom were her siblings. Helena was well cared for in her home but after the number of cats swelled to 25, the owner who was in failing health was no longer able to care for them.

Helena is simply elegant, no frills, no fuss but a sweet, lovely kitty with a shiny coat. She enjoys pets, and will lay close to you and roll all around expressing her joy. Helena enjoys play, especially with the wand toy and don't forget about the catnip!!

Helena is ready for a home of her own. Being at the shelter so long has tempered her spirit a little. Helena needs someone who is patient, willing to spend a few minutes petting or playing with her to experience why we think she is special. Helena would do great with a single adopter, a couple, or a family with older respectful kids. Her last remaining sibling is Mamba, and while they are not bonded, they would certainly make a great pair of kitties together. Because of her playful nature Helena needs to be a part of a multi-cat household with an existing playful cat or leave Second Chance with another playful kitty.

Helena means "shining light". She isn't high maintenance. She is a friendly, warm, happy kitty looking to be loved. She may not be fluffy, nor multi-colored, nor immediately make herself known but she is there, patiently waiting for that right adopter to offer her an opportunity to feel special.

Helena has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $95. Helena has an approximate birthdate of 06-01-24.

If you are interested in Helena or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.
