Helen (of Troy)'s Story

One cold and blustery day a little black kitten ran into the Kroger store in Troy, MO. One of the workers saw her run to the back storage area, and there she stayed for several days, being fed by the workers. When the manager found out Helen (of Troy) was busted. A kind friend got her to us. Because she was so small we thought she was a baby, but the vet informed us she was about 6 months old. That can be a difficult age for socialization if kittens haven't had much human contact. Helen was hissy and would slap, but from the beginning we could tell she was intrigued by us, just not sure how useful we were. She is still judging, but most of the time she seems to think we are bearable. Helen will need a patient adopter, but with the right person she is going to be a once in a lifetime cat. This little number is sooooo smart with a cute sense of humor and a natural curiosity that makes her funny and worth getting to know. Helen still growls occasionally, will still run if you try to pick her up, and is definitely not a lap cat. However, in a home she will be your buddy, interested in everything and just a neat cat. Helen is spayed, up to date with vaccinations, great with her litter box, and the key to her heart is wet food and treats. She loves to play, so will need at least one feline companion in her new home. She should be fine with older children who treat her gently and don't tease. If you are looking for a challenge, but only in the best way, this little cutie might be your new best friend.
