Hedgehog's Story

At only 2 years old, Hedgehog has been through more than any kitty should have to, and we’re hoping a brighter chapter is just around the corner for him. Thankfully, his journey has brought him to us, where he can feel safe and begin to heal. He was rescued from a hoarding situation, where he lived among a large number of other cats in heartbreaking conditions. Conditions were so bad that Hedgehog had urine burns on his legs and paws. Now, he is safe with us, enjoying a clean space, regular meals, fresh water, and soft blankets to curl up on. Hedgehog's physical wounds have healed but, after being treated unkindly by people, rebuilding his trust will take time. He may be shy and cautious right now, but underneath that guarded exterior is a friendly, sweet boy with a big heart, just waiting to feel safe enough to show it.

Hedgehog has a special fondness for his feline friends and is often found snuggled up in a big kitty pile with his shelter pals. Other cats are a great source of comfort for him, so having a feline companion (or two!) in his new home is a "must". Hedgehog will need a calm, adult-only home with patient, understanding adopters who can give him the time and space he needs to feel safe, along with gentle encouragement as he settles in. He has impeccable litter box manners. Hedgehog is FIV+, which makes him eligible for our Permanent Foster Program. Through this program, we will cover his medical expenses for life, provided he receives care from one of our veterinarians in Maple Ridge or Cloverdale.

As a shy black kitty who is FIV+, Hedgehog may be overlooked, but we know he has so much love and companionship to offer. Every kitty deserves a chance to find their furrever home and our paws are crossed that Hedgehog’s day will come soon! To learn more about Hedgehog or to arrange a visit to the shelter, please reach out or fill out an application. You are also welcome to visit us during our Open House, held every Saturday and Sunday from 12 -2 pm.
