HAZELNUT's Story

I used to be a sweet little, shy kitten here in the shelter. I was adopted with my sibling Chai. Our adoptive mom is no longer able to care for us, so after 4 years, we are back in the shelter. Chai is braer than I am, lets people pet her. I am too scared, I hiss and swat because I have no idea what is going on. I would love to be back with my sister, but not sure anyone can look past my scared behavior to give me a chance with her. I promise once you get me home I will try to be better. The Haywood County Animal Services Adoption Center is located at 453 Jones Cove Road, Clyde, NC 28721. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 12pm - 5pm and Saturday 12pm - 4pm. Closed Sundays. Here is a detailed overview of our adoption procedure and requirements: Adoption Application Process The adoption process begins with a verbal Q&A session conducted by our trained Adoption Counselors. This takes place when you visit our facility and meet the animals available for adoption. Our counselors are dedicated to helping you find the perfect match based on your lifestyle and preferences. Adoption Criteria To ensure a successful adoption, we have established a few important criteria: Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to adopt an animal. Identification: A valid photo ID is required for verification purposes; i.e. State, Military or Passport ID. Adoption Fee: The adoption fee must be paid in cash or by check, as we currently do not have the capability to accept debit or credit card payments. Completing the Adoption Once both you and the Adoption Counselor agree on the best furry fit for your family, the following steps will be completed: Paperwork: Our Adoption Counselor will handle all necessary paperwork, ensuring you leave with all required documents. Documents Provided: Adoption Contract: You will receive a copy of the Adoption Contract to sign, along with a copy for your records. Rabies Certificate and Rabies Tag: This document certifies that your new pet is up-to-date on rabies vaccinations. Medical History: You will receive a record of your pet's medical history, providing transparency and peace of mind. Spay/Neuter Receipt: Proof of spay or neuter surgery through the ASPCA or Haywood County Animal Services Adoption Fee Receipt: A receipt of the adoption fee payment for your records.
