Hazel's Story

You might need a little patience to win over this tiny tabby, but she is worth the wait! Hazel is a young female tabby that has spent some of her life as a stray. She was originally spayed and ear-tipped as a feral cat, but with time she showed her caretaker just how loving she is. She is living inside now and doing great, although she is slow to warm up to new people and things. Hazel is looking for a forever home that can help her continue to decompress from her time as a stray cat.

If you are ready for a sweet girl, please apply to adopt Hazel today.

The adoption fee is $100. All cats and kittens will be tested for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated with FVRCP vaccinations and rabies if 4 months or older, dewormed, given vet-approved flea prevention, spayed/neutered if older than 4-5 months and microchipped.

We strive to do all that we can to make sure that we are adopting a healthy and happy kitty into a new home. In addition, all of our cats and kittens are fostered in either a private home or office setting so that volunteers can socialize the kitties, develop good litter box habits and get to know their personalities to make as best a match as possible with an adoptive home!

Kitten Adoption Guidelines:

A REFUNDABLE Spay and Neuter Deposit of $50 will apply for kittens that are too young to be spayed or neutered at the time of their adoption.

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. Send your application in directly at www.ForThePets.org. You can email us with any questions at humanesociety@murray-ky.net.

This is not a first come process; we try to match the cat or kitten with a home that will be a Forever Home. We are a small group of volunteers that have full-time jobs outside of our volunteer time for the humane society. The time to process an application can vary depending on the availability of the Cat Adoption Team, the information provided on the application (whether it is completely filled out) and the number of applicants for that pet. We try to process them as quickly as possible.

All of our cats are indoor cats only unless otherwise specified. We do not approve of declawing and ask that you please educate yourself about the damage this process can do before considering this surgery as it can cause significant emotional and physical effects.

We do not fly or ship our cats due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the cat back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.

We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport. If you apply to adopt a cat and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the cat and fill out the paperwork in person.

We can't provide individual meet and greet sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have plenty of time for your family and pets to visit with the potential new family member before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
