Hawaii's Story

The word “Hawaii” means “homeland”. I’m a pretty calico kitty called Hawaii. I’m a young mama cat who cared for my three kittens until they were all adopted after we came to Paws and Claws from another rescue. I tend to be wary in new places, and I am cautious around people or cats I do not know. I stay off to the side in my room and do not approach others, but there is a very kind woman that I do know, and I am fine when she approaches me. I feel most comfortable staying in the tube toy that’s close to the wall, but I do enjoy being petted. She said that I have also taken another big step: I have started playing with wand toys! I am still startled by quick, sudden movements, so anyone who interacts with me will need to take things very slowly. I’m a very sweet girl, and if you are a patient person who can love me as I am and give me plenty of time to get to know you and to feel comfortable in my space, it can truly come to feel like my home, and you can feel like family to me when I am your beautiful Hawaii.

Adoption Fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax

IMPORTANT UPDATE Although our shelter is open to potential adopters during the viewing hours listed on this page, Paws and Claws prefers to schedule viewings and adoptions by appointment. To make an appointment to meet and adopt one of the companion animals on our Website, we ask that you fill out an online application. Potential adopters can either click on the ADOPTION APPLICATION link on the right side of this page, or visit our Website at pawsandclaws.org and go to the "Willing to Adopt a Pet" section, then select the orange "Adoption Form" box. This will allow you to access the Adoption Guidelines and Application Form. After reading the Adoption Guidelines, either complete the online adoption form and return it to us, or print the Adoption Form, fill in the required information, sign it, and email it back to us via info@pawsandclaws.org. You may list up to four animals that you would like to meet. We review the emails every day. We will process all applications in the order that they are received and then once your application has been approved, we will contact you and set up an appointment for you to meet the animal(s) and if possible, do the adoption on the same day you come in.
