Harper's Story

Harper is a sweet and energetic girl with a playful spirit! Now that she’s settled in at the shelter, her personality is shining through. She’s friendly and affectionate most of the time, though she has a tendency to pick on shy cats. Harper may do well with confident feline companions, but she would be happiest as the only cat in her new home, where she can soak up all the attention for herself.

She’s a bit squirmy when being held, but her curiosity and lively personality make her a joy to be around. Harper recently made her debut on the CBS6 morning news, where she was adored by the newscasters. If you’re looking for a spirited and fun companion, Harper could be the perfect match for you!

Harper is FeLV positive, but she is energetic and healthy. Because FeLV is a virus that weakens a cat's immune system, FeLV+ cats can have shorter life-spans, but cats like Harper who are diagnosed as an adult can live to be 10-15 years old. This virus cannot be transmitted to people, dogs or other non-feline animals, but can be transmitted to other cats via shared water and food dishes and grooming each other. Because of this, Harper should be an only cat or live in a home with other FELV+ cats. She could also live with cat-friendly dogs.

Approx. All of Whisker's cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, age appropriately vaccinated and tested for FELV/FIV prior to adoption.
