Harold is a very sweet 4 year old tuxedo cat, who can be shy at first and may hide until he gets to know you. Keeping him in a smaller quiet space, such as a spare room or bathroom, where he can adjust to his new environment will be important for Harold in his new home. Once he is comfortable, he is incredibly vocal and lets you know when he wants to be loved. If you talk to him, he will often “talk” back to you. Harold enjoys any cat toys that jingle or roll, and gets the zoomies in the evening sometimes when he gets excited. Harold is such an affectionate boy, he enjoys being brushed, and loves to rub against you to get petted. His favourite thing is scratches around his ears, and will roll around happily while you pet him.

Harold is okay being picked up, however he doesn’t enjoy being held for long periods of time. Once he gets to know you, he would likely love to sit on your lap or curl up next to you for a cuddle while you have some down time to relax.

We believe Harold’s ideal home would be somewhere he is the only pet and can get all of the attention, however he would do alright with other cats or a cat-savvy dog. He does currently live with dogs and other cats in his foster home. There, he has a favourite cat friend that he chases up and down the stairs. The dogs do still make him a bit nervous, but he is warming up to them. It has taken him a while to get used to the other pets in the home, and he would appreciate a slow introduction to pets in his adoptive home as well.

Harold does live with kids in his current foster home, all under the age of 6. While toddlers make him nervous, as long as he has space to remove himself from their reach he does well with children. He can be quite timid and nervous, so if there is younger children in the home it is crucial that they can respect his space, and he has a safe place to go when he doesn’t want to interact with them.

Harold has been working hard on gaining trust and confidence in his foster home, and needs someone who will continue to work with him after he is adopted. He likes to have safe places to retreat to, like a spare room or on top of tall furniture where he won’t be bothered when he needs space.
