Harley and Sylvia's Story

Meet Harley and Sylvia!

Harley (white and brown) is a friendly, handsome 3 year old male. Harley was rescued from an outdoor cat colony in a Dairy Queen parking lot. This outgoing guy has a huge heart and is always happy to see you! He loves all the scratches, would do anything for a treat, and likes to chirp to show his love.

Harley is still learning to feel comfortable being picked up, but with patience and gentle handling, he’ll continue to grow more confident every day. Harley can go home alone or with Sylvia; he is paired with Sylvia because he might be good emotional support for her in a new home.

Sylvia (black and white) is a 4-year-old mama who was rescued from an outdoor cat colony where she had several litters of kittens. When she was pregnant with her last litter, she was malnourished, and her babies were born premature. Only one of Sylvia's eight kittens survived, and Sylvia needed to be hospitalized for five days with a feeding tube.

Sylvia is a healthy lady now, but she is still being socialized. She has made great progress in rescue; after warming up to her foster humans, she discovered she loved pets, especially cheek and butt scratches. However, she is also still very skittish and defensive if she feels unsafe. She has never bitten her foster humans, but early in her socialization journey she did bat and scratch when she felt threatened. She has not done so in a long time, and she gives clear signs to communicate when she is uncomfy.

Like Harley, Sylvia is currently working on being picked up by her humans, though she's not as far along as her friend. Sylvia loves squeeze treats, which will be very helpful for continuing her socialization. Sylvia's new family should have a separate room for her to stay in until she has gained confidence and bonded with her humans.

Since they are still working on getting comfortable being handled, Harley and Sylvia would do best in a home with children old enough to understand a cat's boundaries and handle kitties with care. Sylvia especially should not be around anyone younger than a teenager. Harley and Sylvia have been living in a home with dogs, but they have been separated from the pooches by a baby gate. If they go to a home with dogs, the dogs should be gentle and happy to give the cats space. They would likely do great with other friendly cats.

Harley and Sylvia would thrive with someone patient, kind, and ready to give them the gentle reassurance they need. If you’re looking for two loving companions who will reward your kindness with lots of love, Sylvia and Harley might be the perfect match! If you are interested in Sylvia and/or Harley but unsure if they would be the right fit for you, they are also available for foster to adopt.

Their adoption fee is $375 and covers both cats. Both cats are fixed and vaccinated. Fill out an adoption application to schedule a meet and greet with the kitties, or contact Kitten Kam Rescue at kittenkamrescue@gmail.com with questions!
