Hank the Hunk's Story

Hank the hunk was a stray cat living on the streets who was rescued by Healing Animal SCARS on March 29th.
The following is a biography of Hank by his foster family:

"Hank is a Foster that has a special place in our hearts. He is a a 2 year old long haired Male cat with Black fur and a white spot on his chest and back paws.

Hank is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and likes to be close to his person or sitting on the windowsill watching outside. When you’re cuddling him, he’ll grab your hand with his paw and make biscuits on your hand/arm, it’s the sweetest thing.

He loves making biscuits everywhere-on the floor, when walking or sitting, in the air, when snuggling, or on the bed. His meow is adorable, he loves to head butt literally everything. He’s also starting to show a bit more of his playful side as he’s become more settled-he loves to play with socks, the wand toys, and catnip toys.

Hank loves food (like, really loves it), so he uses a slow feeder to help him pace himself at mealtimes. He gets very excited when you go to feed him and also likes to try and sneak some of his humans food if you don’t keep an eye on him. After gently correcting / redirecting him a few times he leaves it alone.

Hank loves belly rubs, and will let you hold him like a baby. He’s a long haired boy and has a soothing purr which makes for the coziest warmest snuggles. He warmed up to his foster home fairly quickly, wanting affection right away. He likes to hangout under the bed when he wants alone time, or lay near you but just out of reach.

Hank is FIV-positive but currently asymptomatic and doing great. Cats with FIV can live long, normal lives. Many people don’t even notice a difference day-to-day. Because of that and the fact that Hank doesn’t enjoy being with other cats, he needs to be the only cat in the home. He’ll also need to be an indoor-only cat to stay healthy. His adopter needs to commit to keeping him indoors and taking him for regular vet check ups just like any another cat.

Hank is a well behaved cat for the most part. He uses a litter box and grooms himself often. We brush him every so often to help maintain his beautiful fur. He’s only goes on counters when he’s being fed. Hank will gently let you know when he’s not in the mood for pets and doesn’t usually bite or scratch. He loves his water so keeping them full is important.

Hank is just the sweetest boy with so much love to give. He bonds with his person quickly and closely. If you’re looking for a cuddly, loving, playful, funny, special cat, Hank is your guy. He is patiently waiting to find his forever home."

Hank has been tested, vaccinated, neutered, treated for parasites and microchipped. If you're interested in applying for him, please send an email so we can forward you the application form. The adoption fee for an adult cat is $275

Healing Animal SCARS - Sonya's Cat & Animal Rescue Society's Adoption Policy
In order to be considered for adoption, you must call Sonya at 902-469-6369 for a discussion to see if you may be a potential fit for one of our adoptable cats or kittens. Then email katsonya@accesswave.ca for an application and call your vet to give them permission to discuss your history with us. We request a donation of $275 for a cat that has been tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV, vaccinated twice, spayed or neutered, treated for parasites and microchipped. We request an adoption fee of $350 for a kitten. Kittens are tested for Feline Leukemia, as they cannot be tested for FIV until they are 6 months old, so we generally rely on the mother cat's test result for FIV. Kittens are fully vaccinated three times, spayed or neutered and microchipped, as well as treated for parasites and any existing illnesses or injuries.
