Hank's Story

Meet Hank, a good looking patch tabby guy who spent the early formative months of his life as a stray, intact male, fending for himself and when it came to the "fight or flight" response, he chose fight, for his survival. He's neutered now but he still sees other cats as a threat and reacts aggressively towards them.

Hank has always been super friendly towards people - anyone and everyone, whether he knows you or not. He will greet friends or strangers alike, with lots of ankle rubs, happy chirps, head buts, lap cuddles and purrs.

Hank also loves to play with wand toys and will plunge head first into his crinkle tube when chasing after the toy on the end of the string and then roll around with it inside the tube. When that's over he will take long naps on the window sill or in your lap.

Hank's foster Mom believes Hank is good with children 5 years and up. She also indicates Hank is cautious but accepting of dogs and would most likely adjust to living with a dog in time.

Hank is can be very independent when left alone and is content to spend the time gazing out the window at birds and critters or napping somewhere comfy.

Hank loves his Friskies canned food best, loves Temptation and Party Mix treats and freeze dried cat treats like Wiskas Purr Pops and Halo Salmon bits.

Hank will be great as an only cat, the ruler of his own kingdom with only human subjects to give him all the love and attention his furry little heart desires. He will be an absolutely wonderful companion for some lucky adopter(s)!

With an approved application, a meet and greet can be arranged in his foster home.

Hank has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Hank has an approximate birthdate of 07/20/2025. His adoption fee is $95.

If you are interested in Hank or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.

Thank you!
