Meet Gunnar

Let me introduce you to Gunnar!

Gunnar came into our rescue when a nice woman who took care of feral cat colonies ended up trapping Gunnar and taking him to get neutered and some vaccines. She then brought him back and let him out.

Well, Gunnar decided that he wasn't leaving, and he didn't deserve to be outside, and he was done with it, so he came back to the woman. At that point she decided to get in touch with our rescue so that he could be adopted

So now that you know all the fun and exciting details about how Gunnar got into our rescue. Let me now tell you about this big boy.

Gunnar is roughly around 2 to 3 years old. He is a domestic long-haired orange with white tabby. He is such a love bug and a really chilled cat all around. He truly enjoys his breakfast time in the morning which is good because he still putting on some weight from when he was outside.

Gunnar gets along with every cat in the lake house which is my foster house as long as they don’t try to be aggressive with him and in most cases, he just goes to a different corner and retreats.

Gunnar Is FIV positive which isn’t as bad as it sounds. I have already adopted out three other FIV positive cats and they are doing well and have flourished in their new surroundings.

I have listed some facts about this below.

Is FIV a big deal?

FIV simply means a cat’s immune system may be compromised somewhere down the road. FIV is a lentivirus, which is very slow acting and usually won’t affect a cat for 7 to 10 years. Most FIV cats live long, healthy, normal lives with no symptoms at all.

FIV cats need the exact same care you give to any cat. FIV positive and negative cats can live together as long as all cats are spayed or neutered and remain indoors and interact peacefully.

Gunnar is ready to show somebody love and affection and have a whole house with people to give that to him.

I have been brushing him slightly every morning as his hair is growing back in in spots with whatever decided to attack him before he got to us. So, he’s a little sensitive and I’ve been training him to accept the brushes and he’s doing very well but he’ll let you know when he’s done.

I have personally found that out of all the cats that I have fostered my four FIV boys have been the utmost sweetest cats. So, if you are looking for a lover, this is your boy.

All HART kittens and cats are vet checked, combo tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and tick preventative.

If you are interested in any of our kitties, you must complete an online cat adoption application available at The application will put you in touch with a HART volunteer. Thanks!
