Growler (working cat)'s Story
Do you own a barn, stable, or just have a lot of land? Looking for someone to help you keep it looking tidy and pest-free? Then meet Growler, one of our working cats! Growler is what we call a working cat because they do just that, work! Working cats have more of a rough and tumble personality and prefer to be outdoors doing their job than indoors getting pets. They prefer the company of other animals to humans and like to approach people at their own pace. We recommend a slow introduction to any other working cats to make sure they get along. Although they do not enjoy being cuddled by their humans, they love to assist them by helping catch any pests. Growler is looking for a home/owner who can utilize his special set of skills. Sound like the cat for you? Stop by today!

If you’d like to meet our available animals, please check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter/adopt
