GRAY's Story
GRAY
MALE DSH/RUSSIAN BLUE MIX
DOB: @03/10/2022

Gray was living outside. Moving form home to home but only at night. Eating what he could find. Looking for handouts at every patio or back door in the Gahanna area. He had been frequenting a colony feeding area for several months and living among the colony of cats. As part of the trapping process he was trapped and neutered, microchipped, tested and vaccinated.

But it was winter when he was trapped and his caretaker kept him inside in a cage while the weather ran its course. He hissed and swatted and stayed inside a carrier placed inside the cage....only coming out at night to use the litter box and eat. He was wild. He was feral...or so we thought. As the days turned into weeks, the gray cat in the cage stopped hissing at the woman that brought him food. She was able to put treats down in from of him in the carrier every time she walked by his cage and he no longer swatted or hissed.

After about 4 weeks, he allowed her to stroke his check and soon he was rubbing against her hand when she rubbed his cheek. Within two month he loved the caretaker foster and looked forward to her pets and scratches. As the weather warmed up he got sweeter and loved the attention of the woman more. (he did not care for the men in the house at all. And by the time spring arrived, he was out of the cage, and was a totally tame and loving beautiful boy.....BUT ONLY WITH THE WOMAN. He did not care for me (although he never hissed at them again) and he didn't care for other women that came to visit him. He tolerated them but he loved the woman that rescued him.

He clearly was not a feral cat. He may have been owned at one point and reverted to a feral lifestyle to stay alive but this cat knew people. We know he adores his foster ...but we aren't sure how he would do with someone lese yet. He tolerates the men and other females in the home but loves the woman foster. He is one of a number of foster cats so would probably flourish where he can be out with his person (a woman only please) all of the time.

If you are interested in learning more about this sweet kitty, please complete an online adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/223107373504044

We do not have a shelter or sanctuary. All pets are cared for in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted.

We require a home visit as part of the application process. We are only able to coordinate home visits where we have local volunteers.

All of the cats in our care and available for adoption have been rescued from shelters, the streets or from neglect or abuse situations. We do our best to determine the given breed or breeds of any cat or kitten in our program based on our experience and advice of professionals.
