Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS)'s Adoption Policy
Most cats may be adopted for a fee of $90 which includes spay/neuter, rabies and FVRCP vaccines, microchipping, FeLV/FIV test, and deworming. Most dogs over one year old may be adopted for a fee of $175. Most puppies under one year old may be adopted for a fee of $260 ($250 if you pay with cash or check). Most senior dogs may be adopted for a fee of $160 ($150 if you pay with cash or check.) Dog and puppy adoption fees include neuter/spay, rabies and distemper vaccines, microchipping, heartworm test, and deworming. Occasionally, an animal’s adoption fee may differ from the fees listed due to extenuating circumstances. Step 1: We encourage you to meet our animals in person to get to know them, or to contact us to learn more about the animal(s) you are interested in. Step 2: Once you have decided on a pet, submit an adoption application via our website (https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POW/Dog). We will then verify information and contact references. Step 3: We will contact you once we've finished processing your application. Step 4: Fill out an adoption contract in person during counseling with one of our adoption coordinators on adoption day. Step 5: Pay adoption fee. Step 6: Take your new furry family member home!
