Granite's Story
Granite joined Kindred Spirits Rescue in May when his mom was found living outdoors with a litter of kittens. Granite has been a quiet, sweet, and steady. He's a friendly boy who loves to be pet and nap. He would likely enjoy being a couch potato with some play sessions in-between. He has a peaceful energy about him normally. When it's play time, this boy can run and jump! When it isn't play time, he usually has food and naps on his mind. He loves being near his friends and family and would likely do well in most homes.

When Granite first joined KSR, we noticed that he was eating a lot but not gaining much weight. At first we thought this may be due to parasites and thoroughly dewormed him. That didn't help, and he continued to act like something was really bothering him. We took him to the vet and he checked out fine. We were stumped. Finally, we realized he was acting abnormally because he was suffering from a disease known as feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). We immediately began treatment for FIP in an attempt to save his life. We were worried we would lose him to FIP; he was very sick. Once we started treatment for FIP, he became the Granite we used to know. He became energetic, confident, and happy again! He has had no symptoms of FIP since and had normal bloodwork at the time of his neuter. Granite is not the first cat we have treated for FIP. We are happy to discuss what his future may look like as an FIP survivor! Please feel free to reach out with any questions about him.

Granite is about 7 months old, neutered, microchipped, and has been dewormed. His foster lives in Little Falls, MN. Kindred Spirits Rescue is a foster based rescue, meaning we have no central facility.
