Grace's Story
Grace is #ADOPTABLE from Bosley's University Village, Nanaimo

Female, domestic short hair, black

Hello, I am Grace. I am a beautiful short hair black girl. I have gorgeous yellow eyes that will draw you in and a small cute white patch on my chest. This sets me apart because I am unique.

I was rescued from outside and came into my foster home with four beautiful babies. I was an amazing mom to my babes, even though I was a kitten myself.
My babies have all been adopted and I am glad to have been able to get them off to a healthy start in life.

I spent more time at my foster home so I could grow into myself and become my own cat, beyond being a mama. I have built so much confidence in my foster home – I am so comfortable with other cats and have grown to like the humans and to love my humans in the house. I might be shy to begin with when you adopt me, but I will warm up and will love to snuggle and purr. But please be patient with me.

Guess what, I am also used to interacting with the dog in the house. Although, I will need time to warm up and will require proper introductions with everyone and fur babies in the house, I can assure you that I am a very loving and purrrfect addition to your house.

When first brought home, it will be important that Grace be allowed to get comfortable in one quiet room while trust is built. She loves cat treats and they can be used to make fast friends. If her adopters take the time to get her to integrate and interact with the house. It takes time to build a relationship but in her foster home she was able to connect with everyone and the animals in the house.

To help Grace settle into a new space, we recommend starting her off in a smaller, safe space to build trust and confidence in her new environment. Reading the “Rule of Three” document included with the adoption resources will help you help Grace settle in.

#Compatibility
Cats: Yes, Grace with proper introductions
Dogs: Yes, cat savvy calmer dogs, with proper introductions
Kids: Older teens who are calm, cat savvy and will help Grace settle in can be considered

#Age
Estimated age: 2 ½ years old

#Veterinary #Information
• Grace has been spayed
• Grace experienced upper respiratory infection while in foster care and has since recovered well. This is usually caused by the feline herpes simplex virus and is very common in rescued cats and kittens. We helped manage this kitty cold by adding a common amino acid supplement, lysine, to wet food daily. A cat may have a flare-up of symptoms in future due to stress, such as a change of environment such as an adoption centre and/or new home. A document explaining this in more detail will be included with the health record card given at time of adoption.
• Grace was noted as having mild gingivitis, which can often be corrected and prevented from progressing by using a dental care kibble. Some of this kibble will be provided to the adopter to use as a treat.
A home oral hygiene regimen such as daily tooth brushing, oral gel, water additive, dental powders added to wet food, or dental treats can also reduce bacteria and plaque buildup and are recommended to help support good oral health. Your vet can advise on the best products to help with dental care.
• Vaccinated for FVRCP and Feline Leukemia
• Microchipped
• Deflead and dewormed
• Six weeks of pet insurance
• Health record card
• Specific diagnostic testing may also have been done as each cat's health may warrant while in CatNap's care.
