GOLIATH's Story

In October of 2011, I received a very nice email from a gal who rescued this fine fella from Battle Ground, IN and was having trouble placing him as he was FIV-positive. Being a Purdue graduate (BOILER UP!), I was very familiar with the area and felt my old heart strings being tugged before I even laid eyes on his handsome face. Sarah (Reece, of Petsburgh Pet Care) offered to make the 3-1/2 hour road trip to our facility once we had room; typically we are only able to take cats from the Michigan area, but we were able to make an exception this time and welcome gorgeous Goliath into our sanctuary on 11-14-11.

Although given a tough name, Goliath (born in the fall of 2006) is actually more of a gentle giant than anything. Fond of belly rubs while in Sarah's care, he has taken to hanging out up high in our open closets, looking at the world from his mighty perch and enjoying the peace and quiet immensely. His appearance details time on the streets, fighting and fending for himself as a tom cat with something to prove. His demeanor now reflects a calm, more subdued fella who has really taken to the indoor life of luxury! He is initially a bit shy and wary of new cats, but once he is comfy with them, he chums around nicely. I think the poor puss was so used to getting beaten up that he isn't always quite sure how to react when a cat comes his way. Luckily for him, Big Sid's is chock full of lovers, not fighters!

Thanks to Sarah and the folks at Petsburgh for not immediately euthanizing the cats that come their way that have either FIV or Feleuk - we love you for that! Goliath sends sandpaper kisses your way.
