She was adopted as a kitten and returned in March 2026 due to adopter's health and other challenges.  Although her world has been turned upside down, she has remained serene and loving.<br/><br/>The pluses: Look at that face. She is a kind, calm, mellow, even placid kitty. She loves to be brushed which is great as her coat is quite long. She has a soft, quiet meow. She seeks out attention and pets whenever she sees you.<br/><br/>On surrender form, adopter wrote: extremely loving, enjoys being kissed on, loves snuggling, makes biscuits, very laid back, loves being with her person. She also checked boxes for: calm/mellow, lap cat, purrs, sleeps on bed, likes to be near you, makes biscuits.<br/><br/>When she was returned, she weighed 17lbs. However, due to pain in her mouth (adopter reported drooling) and the stress of no longer being in the home she was used to, she was only 14.9lbs when she had her dental about a month later. That is still quite big for a girl kitty - for those looking for a big girl, here she is!<br/><br/>The "minuses": As we always do with seniors, she was given an exam and senior panel (blood test plus urinalysis) where it was discovered she had a number of concerning values. (We provide copies of these results in the adoption packet.) Her glucose level is borderline diabetic on each of the 3 tests she has had, 1 of which was a fasting test just before her dental which she had in late March - EIGHT teeth were pulled, including 3 of her 4 canines.  She has been on Urinary Tract Health prescription kibble since she was a young adult because adopter reported it was recommended to her after crystals were discovered in her urine.  Now that she is prediabetic, she has been prescribed a kibble that is Urinary Tract Health/Metabolic/Weight Care food. (Yes, what a surprise to us that there IS such a thing!)<br/><br/>She seems to be intimidated by other adults and small dogs so we believe she should be the only pet in the home because that is what she had all her life with her adopter - her hooman all to herself. (She ignores kittens after a few hisses.)<br/><br/>Because the prescription kibble is not inexpensive and she might need further teeth pulled (paperwork said 3 (not 6 as first reported) need watching), we are looking for an adopter OR a long-term fosterer for this kitty who is so deserving of a soft landing.<br/><br/>***Update: 5/6/26 - due to a limp, she had another exam. She has arthritis in her right hind (probably due to being so overweight for such a long time), and a luxating patella caused by a possibly damaged ACL in the left caused by her favoring her right leg, and then turning suddenly or stepping up or down the stairs she uses to get up on a hope chest to look out the window to watch birds and squirrels (and probably opossums, skunks, and raccoons at night.)<br/><br/>Adoption events are held at the Fair Oaks Petco (Madison at Hazel) on Saturdays from noon to 4pm.
