GERTRUDE - Purrmanent Resident's Story
Good Ol’ Gertrude

Gertrude arrived at Crash’s Landing in October of 2025 with an estimated age of at least 14 years. It’s difficult to say for certain, but between the severe dental disease, age-related changes in her eyes, and truly horrendous arthritis affecting her hips, neck, knees, and elbows, we know one thing for sure—this girl is no spring chicken.

No worries, though. We were able to address her dental pain by extracting the majority of her teeth, and the transformation was remarkable. She now eats comfortably—and enthusiastically. Her chronic joint and spinal pain are managed with monthly Solensia injections, which have made a world of difference in her comfort and mobility. She is quite bow-legged, likely the result of years spent shifting her weight forward to spare her badly damaged hips and knees.

Gertrude is an ornery gal at times. She hates being medicated and prefers that people respect her personal bubble 😊. We adore her feistiness and attitude—it suits her perfectly and has clearly served her well throughout her long life. And while she’s teeny-tiny, rest assured we don’t allow anyone to gang up on her (not that they’d dare).

Gertrude is also FIV-positive.

Realistically, our sassy senior isn’t adoptable—but every soul deserves to have their story told. She is a trooper. A survivor. She is deeply loved, exceptionally well cared for, and she is welcome to remain at Crash’s Landing for the rest of her spoiled little life.
