Gertrude's Story

Surrender Form #114; Adoption Application #1185

dob 5/23/17

Since she was a kitten, Gertrude lived with a loving owner who recently passed away, leaving her grieving and frightened by the huge change in her life. She stayed alone in the condo for a while with family and neighbors checking in on her. Now she’s in a TC Paw foster home, where she was initially frightened but is slowly adjusting to a new life. Though she is timid and unsure, she likes to be petted and have her ears scratched, and she's building trust with her foster family. She enjoys quiet spaces and cozy hiding spots like a box, cat tree cubby, open cat carrier, or even a blanket or towel she can burrow under. Gertrude is a big girl with expressive, bright green eyes and a stunning, long-haired coat that requires daily brushing—something she enjoys! She's also good about having her nails clipped. Loud noises and sudden changes startle her. She should go to a home without dogs or small children. When friends checked in on Gertrude in the condo, they left lots of food, and she over-indulged and gained weight. Her foster family is helping her to return to a healthy weight, and they can show her new owners how to keep that going. In a quiet home where she is slowly introduced to new spaces and people, and where she can take her time to trust and be comfortable again, Gertrude will be a splendid, loving pet.

Gertrude came in with another cat from the same home, Chloe. They are very similar in temperament. Please check Chloe's page too.
