Gertie's Story

The Cat Who’s Ready to Learn to Love Again** Hey there, I’m Gertie. I’ve been in foster care for a year and a half now, waiting for someone to see me for who I am. A family came to meet me once, but they didn’t understand that trust is something I give slowly—after all, humans haven’t always been the kindest to me. When I first meet you, I might hide. But if you’re patient, I promise you’ll get belly rubs once we’ve built that special bond. I’ve had a rough start. My previous owner, a hoarder, tried his best, but when he was evicted, my kittens were trapped inside the boarded-up building, and I was thrown outside.

Thankfully, my babies were rescued, and now I’m safe, living with my foster mom and learning that not all humans are bad. I’ve had many foster siblings—more than I can count—and I’ve loved every one of them. I dream of a calm forever home with one or two feline siblings to keep me company. I love to play with toys, and when I’m comfortable, my goofy side comes out. And once I trust you, I’ll purr up a storm. I know I’m not the easiest cat, but I’m worth the wait. If you can be patient, I’ll be your most loyal friend. Please take a chance on me.
