Georgie's Story

Update March 5th - Georgie is at the Global Pet Store, 255 Dundas St W in Waterdown. Go pay this cutie a visit.

March 5th, 2026 - Georgie has just been cleared by his surgeon and is now ready for adoption. Please read his bio, requirements for adoption and if you think he would be a good fit then go to avacats.org and fill out an online application form. An adoption co ordinator will be in touch
Georgie came to us from Hamilton Animal Services mid January. He had been brought in as a "stray" - injured and non weight bearing on his rear right leg. His stray time was up and he needed medical attention. Xrays showed possible fracture, so the vets taped his leg , he went on pain meds and we waited. No improvement so he was referred to a vet who specializes in orthopedic surgery. His problem was his knee - impact had caused the femur to be pushed back and his ligaments were damaged. Probably from being hit by a car or stomped on they said. We decided to proceed with the surgery - called a Stifle procedure to repair all ligaments etc as opposed to moving immediately to an amputation. Day of his surgery once incision made it was noted that his tibia had to much damage, shattered and no where to put the screws so he had to have his leg amputated. He came home on pain meds and was able to stand pain free. He was a happy camper. He has been back for rechecks and he has healed up nicely and is ready for his new home. He has been flea treated, dewormed twice, received his FVCRP and rabies vaccines, microchipped. He had previously been neutered. His adoption fee is $250. He jumps, runs, plays and can't wait to find his new forever home. He would be fine on his own or with another feline friendly cat. He is very sweet and can't wait to find his new home. AVA has an indoor and no declaw policy.
