No winter coat. No survival instincts. No understanding of why he was suddenly alone on a bike trail instead of inside a home.<br/><br/>When we found him, his eyes were frozen shut. He couldn’t see. He was suffering. And yet… he didn’t run. He didn’t fight. He simply let himself be picked up, as if he knew this was his chance.<br/><br/>As we gently warmed him, we saw the hair around his eyes had peeled away from his desperate attempts to see through the ice. That’s how long he had been struggling out there.<br/><br/>And then — warmth. A soft place. A loving hand.<br/><br/>George is amazingly sweet. The kind of sweet that makes your chest ache a little. He just wants to be back inside a home. To belong to someone. To exhale.<br/><br/>Right now, he’s fearful of other cats. We’re certain it’s from the trauma he endured out there — always on edge, always trying to survive. He needs patience. He needs reassurance.
