Fruitvale's Story

What my friends at ACC say about me:
My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!
I was found in a home with other cats.
I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.
Fruitvale is possibly an adult cat that may not have had many significant/thorough interactions with humans from an early age. She appears apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, she is tense and wary of direct interactions. She tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people, we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
I have potential behavior challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me.
I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.
I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.
I am looking for a home with a patient person.
I'll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life.
I would do best in a home with only adult humans.
