Frodo

Frodo is a big, handsome orange tabby boy who is incredibly sweet and affectionate once he knows you and trusts you. During the workday, he is my little office buddy and loves being right beside his foster mom. He curls up in his comfy cat bed next to the desk, climbs into his foster mom’s lap for attention, and follows her around the house whenever she gets up to do something. Once Frodo is comfortable with you, he really wants to be part of your day and can’t get enough attention. He is such a loving boy, and getting to see his personality come out as he becomes more confident has been really special.<br/><br/>Frodo can be shy when he first goes into a new environment, especially with unfamiliar people. He may hide or hunker down while he tries to figure everything out. He needs someone who understands that he needs time to feel safe, but he also benefits from some gentle encouragement to come out, eat, explore, and interact. If he is simply left to hide, he can stay scared much longer than necessary. It is a little bit of a balancing act with Frodo. He needs someone who will give him the time he needs while also helping him realize that there is nothing to be afraid of. Once he starts feeling safe and trusts you, you get to see a completely different side of him.<br/><br/>Frodo has had some difficult experiences with other cats. He was previously being picked on and hurt by resident cats, and that has understandably made him nervous around cats who chase or stalk him. But Frodo does not have to be an only cat. He has done well with cats who are curious about him but respect his space. That is really the key with Frodo. He does fine with cats who want to check him out and coexist with him, but he does not do well when another cat treats him like prey and wants to chase or stalk him. A calm, confident cat who is not interested in picking on him could be a great companion for Frodo. He can also live with a dog with a proper introduction as long as the dog is respectful of him.<br/><br/>Frodo enjoys both playtime and relaxing. He loves his favorite automated butterfly toy and spends plenty of time lounging in his window hammock watching the world outside. He has also done well around younger kittens after a little time to adjust. He is becoming more comfortable with his foster’s 5 year old daughter as they get to know each other, but he is more unsure around unfamiliar people and does not enjoy a lot of unpredictable activity. A quieter home without very young children would probably be the best fit for him.<br/><br/>Frodo’s perfect home is really about the person and the environment rather than whether he lives with a man, woman, single person, or family. He needs someone who is patient, cat savvy, and willing to give him the time and encouragement he needs to build his confidence. He is not a difficult cat. He is just a sensitive boy who needs to feel safe before he can show you who he really is.<br/><br/>And once he does trust you, he is such a wonderful companion. You will have a big orange shadow following you around the house, a lap cat who wants plenty of attention, and an office buddy who would much rather be sitting beside you than anywhere else. <br/><br/>Frodo is fully vetted, was born approximately 8/5/2024, and his adoption fee is $90.
