Fritzie's Story

Fritzie is a tuxedo Domestic shorthair mix. He is Feline AIDS positive, however Fritzie can still live a full and healthy life despite this diagnosis. Feline AIDS, or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), is a virus that weakens a cat's immune system, making them more susceptible to diseases. FIV only affects cats and isn't transmissible to people. FIV is only transferred to other cats via deep bite wounds, or from mother to baby. Fritzie gets along well with other cats; he came to us as a bonded pair with his sister, Bootzie, who has since passed. We would be comfortable adopting Fritzie out with a playmate, or to a home with a preexisting cat, as long as there is no aggression from the playmate that could instigate a fight where Fritzie would feel like he needs to defend himself (to avoid the spread of FIV through bite wounds). He is also not currently on any special medication for this condition and wouldn't require more vet care than a cat without FIV at this time.

Fritzie is Feline Leukemia negative and up to date on his vaccines. He is timid, but is interested in affection. Despite being shy, Fritzie is very playful and loves treats. He loves to talk to you with his squeaky meow. He would do best in a quiet home with an owner who is willing to take things at his pace and work with him to gain his trust. Timid cats can really blossom in the right home with lots of love and patience. He is located in Lisbon, CT. If interested, please email Carrie at nylencarrie@gmail.com for an application.
