Frida's Story

From Frida's foster mama:
Frida is our final foster before we leave the country and I’m so close to packing her in my hand luggage. We are going to miss this playful, curious, chatty little love-bug!

A shy girl who takes her time settling with new situations and new people, Frida likes being able to retreat to a safe space, but because she truly loves company of people and cats that makes her brave.

The way to her heart is through her favourite wand toy, and you can seal the deal with some Churu! We discovered that she’s a huge fan of chasing down crunchy treats that go flying across the floor, it’s fun for everyone (except possibly our downstairs neighbours!)

As a foster she has been so rewarding. She started as a scared bean, so gaining her trust and seeing her come into her own and show off her personality has been such fun.

Her interactions with other foster cats have shown that she would love to be in a home with another cat. Because she’s a little shy to start it would be ideal to see her paired with a calm and confident cat, but she has also overcome a grumpy older foster brother who took some winning over. Another time she put her big girl pants on and made friends with two boisterous kittens who initially scared the heck out of her!

Frida has such heart, and once she's comfortable, she unlocks into a cuddly, goofy, playful munchkin! Backyard Cats of Bed-Stuy's Adoption Policy
I ask that everyone interested in adopting a cat from me starts the application process by filling out my adoption application! The more details you can provide, the better. You can find the app here: https://www.backyardcatsofbedstuy.com/adoption-application Once I've received your application, if I'm interested in moving forward I'll reach out to schedule a Zoom call (or sometimes an in-person meeting, where possible). I often have the foster join as well to talk more specifically about each cat's personality and needs. If the meet-and-greet goes well, and if requested, the potential adopter can arrange a time to meet the cat(s) at their foster homes, or they can start out with a trial "foster-to-adopt" period of one month, to make sure it is a good fit for both cats and humans. A cat isn't considered "fully adopted" until they have been through proper vetting (spayed or neutered, given rabies and FVRCP vaccines, tested for FeLV and FIV, microchipped, and dewormed and treated for fleas). I love to stay in touch with my adopters and often receive updates about their new pets thriving in their forever homes!
