Frida's Story

If you’re looking for a furry friend to join your family, Frida wants to be your cat’s best friend! This gorgeous girl was estimated to be about two years old when she was rescued with her litter of kittens on the hot Brooklyn streets this spring.

After her kittens were weaned, she started intensive socialization in her foster home to draw her out of her shell. Frida has transformed from a shy and spicy nugget into a sweet, playful and friendly girl! Still cautious, she watches with beautiful big green eyes until she’s ready and then she greets you with a sweet chirrup, leaning in to pets for as long as you’re willing to give them and you’ll be rewarded with the purr engine.

Frida is happy to keep herself entertained with her toys for hours and loves to play with her human fosters if she’s not watching the world go by from her window perch, but she entirely comes out of her shell and lights up when she is with other cats. She has shown an incredible amount of patience and good temperament while working on winning over her grumpy foster brother, she’s confident enough to put up with his hisses and even a couple swipes without giving up. Frida would definitely thrive in a home with a friendly resident cat or make a great partner for another new cat.

Frida has progressively become more affectionate as she settles in and though it hasn’t quite happened yet she yearns to be a lap cat in her heart, she just needs the right lap - yours!

Frida is spayed, negative for FIV and FeLV, up to date on her vaccines, and microchipped. Backyard Cats of Bed-Stuy's Adoption Policy
I ask that everyone interested in adopting a cat from me starts the application process by filling out my adoption application! The more details you can provide, the better. You can find the app here: https://www.backyardcatsofbedstuy.com/adoption-application Once I've received your application, if I'm interested in moving forward I'll reach out to schedule a Zoom call (or sometimes an in-person meeting, where possible). I often have the foster join as well to talk more specifically about each cat's personality and needs. If the meet-and-greet goes well, and if requested, the potential adopter can arrange a time to meet the cat(s) at their foster homes, or they can start out with a trial "foster-to-adopt" period of one month, to make sure it is a good fit for both cats and humans. A cat isn't considered "fully adopted" until they have been through proper vetting (spayed or neutered, given rabies and FVRCP vaccines, tested for FeLV and FIV, microchipped, and dewormed and treated for fleas). I love to stay in touch with my adopters and often receive updates about their new pets thriving in their forever homes!
