Meet Freddie!<br/><br/>Our shelter manager describes Freddie as a laid-back guy who enjoys the company of other cats and takes life in stride. Hes easy-going and easy on the eyes! We think Freddie would thrive in a home with another feline friend and would love spending time with older kids who enjoy both playtime and quiet moments with a furry companion by their side.<br/><br/>Freddie has already been through too much, and were determined to make sure he never has to worry about being tossed aside or left behind again. Weve made it our mission at Crashs to find him the home he truly deserves forever.<br/><br/>When I first met the fabulous Freddie Mac, it was just five days before Christmas 2024. A concerned couple on the southeast side of town found him wandering their neighborhood injured and oozing from a ruptured cat bite abscess. As I soon discovered, not only was he FIV+, but also anemic, and his body was peppered with tiny punctures and scabs; life on the streets is tough when youre out there on your own.<br/><br/>What shocked me most was learning that Freddie did have a home. We traced his microchip back to an owner, but it was clear he wasnt treated as a valued indoor pet. The adopter, a college student, had moved away and left Freddie behind (his name has been changed to protect his anonymity), and the students mother was caring for him in name only. Sadly, I had no choice at the time but to treat him as best I could and return him with detailed instructions and hope that his human would do better.<br/><br/>Fast forward to September 2025, when the same concerned neighbors reached out again. Freddies owner had moved away earlier in the year, once again leaving him to fend for himself. This time, I vowed that nothing would stand in the way of Freddie getting the cushy, comfy, strictly indoor life he craved and was owed.<br/><br/>Now that Freddie is safe with us at Crashs Landing, hes finally getting the love, care, and stability he always deserved. His wounds both physical and emotional have healed beautifully, revealing a sweet, affectionate, and easy-going boy who adores the company of people and other cats alike. Freddie has left his difficult past behind and is ready to start a brand-new chapter one filled with soft beds, sunny windowsills, and a family who will never let him down again.<br/><br/>Could that be you?<br/><br/>UPDATE 9-26: <br/>It has been a year, and our boy is still here, patiently waiting his turn to pack his bags. Why is he still among us (other than the fact that we ADORE him and will have a difficult time parting with him)? Well, fabulous Freddie has a chronic inflammatory condition known as STOMATITIS, or inflammation of his oral cavity. Because of this, I have had to remove the majority of his teeth (don't worry - he eats just fine), and he requires regular steroid injections to keep the pain and redness at bay. So, if you end up falling as helplessly in love with Freddie as we are and want to make him your own, Crash's Landing will pay for ALL medical care that is related to his stomatitis, as long as you continue care with me at Feline Wellness Center. We fully believe in supporting our cats in the present and future!
