FREDDIE's Story

Does FREDDIE like people? No.
Will he hide the second he hears you coming? Yes.
Does he come out and explore/play when he realizes youre gone? Also yes.

FREDDIE was found spending a lot of time lying under a tree in an apartment complex. He sounded very congested, and it was clear from the way he was walking that he was painful on his feet. He was trapped for TNR, and the vet informed us he has a condition called pillow foot or plasma cell pododermatitis. It is most commonly found in cats with FIV (which he also has). Left untreated, this condition causes swollen/cracked paw pads which may even require surgery. This means it would be unethical to release him back outside where he was living previously. After a course of steroids, antibiotics, and a new fancy limited ingredient diet, he is in remission! We catch him on camera being very active and hanging out with other kitties.

FREDDIE will need to be on limited ingredient food and may intermittently need more courses of steroids and antibiotics if his condition flares up again (good news, he eats literally anything you put in front of him). If youd like a medically needy, SUPER HANDSOME roommate who wants nothing to do with you but will love your other cats, then FREDDIE is your guy. FREDDIE is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and litter box trained. He is positive for FIV and negative for FelV. eDOB 11/17/2021

SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A MEET AND GREET:
- To submit an application directly, go to: animals-in-distress.org/adoptions
- As part of our adoption process, we ask all potential adopters to complete an application before scheduling any meet and greets.
