Frannie was originally fostered by her mom back in 2015 when she was just a young cat who was in the local SD county shelter and needed to be exited out for medical reasons. We had taken her and her foster mom nursed her back to health, she of couhrse fell in love and adopted Frannie. Back then Fran used to live with multiple dogs of different sizes cats and one macaw. Life happened and her mom and her moved around for the past couple of years and she lived as the only cat.. When her mom passed Frannie came to live at casa de ARWOB and fell under depression it was hard to get frannie to eat of course loosing her mom was devasting for her and it took her some time to come to terms with her loss. Thankfully in June she made a turn around and started eating for us in good schedule. She was then slowly incorporated into the rest of the household where many foster cats of different ages and sizes lived with her. She adjusted well to the felines and prefered to be alone by the dogs. She is a 'stand your ground' kinda gal so she won't be bullied by anyone dog, cat or human alike! Triming her nails can be achieved by less is better methology, do not scruff this kitty, do not man handle her, go easy, gentle and she will cooperate which is important to know if she where to also go to vet visits ha haSince frannie came to ARWOB in May 2025 her medical was updated, she is in good health and for a senior cat she has a wonderful coat, body condition strong and healthy, her mouth is not bad either! She has not had a dental but doesn't seem to need one either. As of November 2025 she did develop a little cyst we are waiting for it to heal/go on its own in case you inquire about her.Thankfully in September she was lucky to find a foster family where she has been the only pet and shares the home with 2 adults in an apartment setting. We are sure she loves all the attention for herself and we will update with her new foster notes soon. The notes below are from 2015 her original biography for adoption when she was a young adult cat: Her foster mom says:'Frannie is great with other pets there at the house: dogs (all sizes), cats, bunnies and their macaw. She playfuly stalks, paw boops, initiates 'mock chases', and sleeps on the couch next to their smallest (25 Pound) dog. She is really loving and actively seeks human contact, but on her own terms. She is one resilient little girl, and she is not the skittish/overly cautious cat type when it comes to unknown things; she is really smart and inquisitive.' 'She follows us (her foster mom and dad) as a shadow when we move around the house. Having Frannie around is really like having a 4th dog! She is a licker: she will sit by you and lick your fingers when she wants attention (she also does the 'love nibble' thing, but in a gentle way). Frannie's favorite toy is anything with a stick. She has a 'stick fetish' and loves picking up anything stick-like and manipulating it... from toys to silverware to plant helpers. Her favorite activity is meditating/napping in a sunshine puddle (by a window with a screen) while watching the yard's bugs and birds. She is the Lara Croft of kitties: there is no cupboard she has left unturned, no cabinet top she hasn't mapped, and has been observed tunning along the top of the window blind railing... she LOVES to observe from lofty places!' Frannie is looking for a forever home but also a long term foster who can help us and her wait out the time that is needed until her forever family finds her. She has had a rough life and there are some specifics to her foster or forever family like no children or teenagers and, preferably a cat savvy adopter/foster like she has now, who with love and patience has done wonders with her over the past three months. Animal Rescuers Without Borders,Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The A.R.W.O.B. group prides itself on carefully placing animals into responsible and loving homes. We care about the present and future lives of the many unwanted dogs and cats and strive to improve them so they can come to know stability, love and safety. For more information, please visit our website at www.arwob.org. Our adoption procedure is as follows: 1) Adoption Application filed by applicant (visit the applications page to fill one out!). We typically adopt dogs and cats to individuals or families located in San Diego County, Orange County and Los Angeles areas. However, we may consider potential adopters within California, Arizona, and Nevada (within a reasonable driving distance) under certain circumstances. We require that the application be approved ahead of time and a home check must be done via FaceTime Skype (we do not accept videos for this purpose). We would also require the potential adopter to come to San Diego to meet the animal in person and we recommend bringing any current pet(s) to see if they will get along. If the potential adopter opts out of the meet-n-greet with their existing animal(s) and if the new pet does not get along with their existing pets, we would require the adopter to drive back to San Diego to return the animal -- we cannot provide transportation. Our adoptions are time sensitive and our policy is that we do not place holds on any of our rescues. PLEASE NOTE: We have implemented a new policy for those who are currently serving in the military. IF YOU ARE IN THE MILITARY please fill out a short questionnaire in addition to the adoption application. 2) A play date between the applicant and rescue (dog or cat). An applicant MUST have an APPROVED online adoption application filed BEFORE scheduling a playdate at the animal's foster home. The playdate will ensure that the potential adopter and the dog/ cat they are interested in is the right match. If the dog/cat does not possess the qualities and behavioral traits the applicant is looking for, we can continue the adoption process by meeting another rescued dog or cat. You can also meet the animal you are interested in at scheduled adoption events. Approved applicants have priority to meet an animal over others. Please read the events page for more information about meeting an animal at an event and possibly taking them home afterward. 3) Home checks to ensure the safety of our rescues (If applicable). An ARWOB volunteer will contact you upon approval of your application (and the playdate appointment) to schedule a visit to your home. Here we will take a look at where the cat/dog will be living. Your home and yard must be safe and secure. 4) Adoption Contract and ID from applicant If everything checks out during the homecheck and we believe our rescued dog/ cat will live happily there, we will go ahead and sign the adoption contract to makes the adoption official. 5) Adoption fee Fees are different for both dogs and cats and are based on age and, sometimes, on the breed. Please visit the adoption fees page for a break down of all. 6) Denial of adoption applications We screen all of our adoption applications thoroughly in order to find the perfect home for our rescues. There may be times when we feel the adopter is not a good fit based on the answer to questions on their application. Please know that we vet each applicant with the animal's best interest in mind. In the event that your application is denied, you will receive an email letting you know of our decision. However, we will not be able to answer detailed questions regarding the denial.
