Frankie's Story

Frankie came to us around Thanksgiving 2025 and came to us very sick. He came with upper respiratory, eye and ear infections. He was dehydrated and malnourished and had an uphill battle to conquer.

He came to us with 4 other littles, plus one older buddy. Frankie was one of four littles and was quite ill. He slowly came back to good health with the tender loving care administered around the clock by our shelter staff. With time, he overcame the slew of medical issues and is now in good health.

Frankie is neutered and has received his distemper and rabies vaccines. He is up to date on flea & tick preventative and is also feline leukemia & FIV tested. He is negative for both.

We do not know how he would do with dogs - this is something we have not tested. He doesn't seem to mind other cats.

He prefers to keep to himself and observe from a quiet place. He is on the reclusive side of the personality scale however he does come out and enjoy being pet once he comes around and is no longer scared. He will need a patient and loving family who will allow him to be him, perhaps from a distance for some time. The world he knew before here was scary and unpredictable - he needs time to know that not all people and environments are scary.

Ideal home: Frankie may not do well with super young kids due to the high level of activity. He's not keen on being picked up and played with. He prefers to 'exist' and not be the center of attention.

Frankie is a good kitty and worth the investment and wait. With time and familiarity, we trust that Frankie will make a great companion for a family.

We have simplified our animal adoption process to ensure that the process is not only easy on you but our animals. It is important that we ensure that is a great fit for not just you but also for the animal. 1. Meet & Greet. Come and meet our animals. We have so many wonderful and loving animals. We encourage you to find someone who complements your lifestyle and you/your family. 2. Fill out an application. Check out our website for our digital application: https://www.redwoodareaanimalshelter.org/ OR you can fill out an application in person during our open hours of operation (Monday - Friday, 1p - 5p). 3. Approval: we will look over your application and may ask questions if need be to ensure a great fit! We follow a 'same day' adoption process - no need for any additional checks, visits or etc. Please keep in mind: it is always our top priority to place animals in great homes. We reserve the right to decline an applicant if we feel this is not a great fit. 4. Pay Adoption Fee: adoption fees are based on the age, breed and medical care received by the animal. Adoption fees may change without notice however the applicant will be notified if there is a change in the fee. We accept the following payment methods: cash, check and all major debit/credit cards. Credit/Debit card transactions are subject to a 4% credit card processing fee. Please note: ALL ADOPTION FEES are final. There are no refunds. 5. Go Home: if you plan to do a 'same day' adoption, adopters are required to bring a collar & leash (for dog adoptions) and/or cat carrier for (cat adoptions). 6. Live happily ever after: this is the end goal, of course! All adoptions are final - meaning please be certain that you have properly prepared your home, your family and your lifestyle to add in another pet. Rescue animals often need time to decompress and adjust to a new surrounding - please be patient and have grace.
