Fillip's Story

🐾Hi... my name's Fillip.
I was adopted once, a few years back. I really thought that was it--that I'd found my person forever. But then another cat came home, and things got stressful. I stopped using the litterbox sometimes, and they brought me back here.
I wish I could explain it better. I was declawed before I ever came to the shelter, and that means my paws aren't like other cats' anymore. Some litter feels sharp or strange, and when I'm stressed, it's even harder. It's not that I don't want to do the right thing... I just sometimes need a little extra understanding.
Here at the shelter, I have my own big room and a litterbox that feels okay for me. I've been doing just fine with it. I like having my space. I'll visit with the other cats when I feel like it, but I also like to be alone when I've had enough. The staff here gets me--they know when I've reached my limit and they always make sure I feel safe.
What I really want is a quiet home. No other pets, no chaos... just someone kind who won't give up on me if I struggle a bit. Someone who understands that I'm trying my best. I can't live outside because of my paws, but I'd love a safe yard or a sunny spot where I can feel the breeze and stretch out in peace.
I know I'm not perfect. But I promise, if you give me a chance, I'll give you all the love I have. I just need someone to see me--not for my past or my quirks--but for who I am.
Love,
Fillip 💛

To apply for Fillip, please go to our website at EffinghamCountyHumaneSociety.org
