Cocoa, Florida
Text Rebecca 321-431-7225

Ferny arrived at the shelter back in the spring. He had scabies, eye issues and his mouth was full of inflammation and infection. We rescued him and gave him time for his skin to heal. He then had entropion surgery on both eyes (a painful condition where the eyelids roll inwards and rub against the eyes), and a dental procedure where he lost SIX teeth! He has healed now and is ready for adoption!

Ferny is about 4 years old, up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped and FELV negative.

Ferny is FIV positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). This means he has a weakened immune system. He can live a long, normal life just like NONFIV kitties. He can also live with NONFIV kitties as the virus is only spread through deep bite wounds (like outside feral cats fighting). It is not spread through water bowls or food dishes.

Videos:

https://youtube.com/shorts/9QQQX_mNilY?si=cCuMMY6lD_niDJzk

PERSONALITY:
Ferny is a very sweet cat who seeks out human attention. He loves to be pet and held. He likes to be with his humans whenever possible. He often follows his foster mom wherever she goes. He likes to be with people and other animals. Ferny is a very vocal kitty. We notice it most when he first arrives in a new place, hell meow quite a bit. As he settles in , he mainly meows for human attention and food.

LIKES/DISLIKES/OTHER ANIMALS/CHILDREN:
Ferny loves to get head scritches. He also likes to be held. He likes to sleep on fleece blankets and can be found on them napping throughout the day. His favorite toys are the springs, He loves to chase them around. He loves various scratchers and uses them well. He is very food motivated.

Ferny has been around other cats and does fine with them. He has briefly been introduced to small dogs and he went right up to them without any fear. We think he will do well with other animals as long as proper introductions are given.

He has not been around children. He would do best around older, cat friendly children.

***Please remember; our cats have a low thirst drive and NEED the moisture in the wet food. Since wet food is 75% moisture and dry food only 10%, that is huge for our felines. Cats need wet food daily to avoid a lot of dehydration related medical problems long term like urinary tract issues which can lead to litter box avoidance and kidney disease or obesity issues linked to diabetes..

VETTING:.

Ferny is about 4 years old, up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped and FELV negative.

Ferny is FIV positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).
