Fergus's Story

Meooow!! I'm Fergus. I'm a big guy with a big personality! I am very talkative and very needy for attention. I lived with another cat and did well. I love to sit in a lap. I'm kind of a big chicken about certain things and may hide or be jumpy. I love blanket caves, cat grass, and sun beams. I love to do big jumps in the air to catch a wand toy. I am incredibly friendly and just adore people petting me and giving me attention. I adore being brushed and sometimes drool when I'm happy. I love to wrapped up in a blanket like a swaddled child.
I'm a very special needs guy though because I have an urge to chew and swallow things I shouldn't. I've had 2 surgeries for eating things that obstructed my digestive system. So I need a home that is very tidy and doesn't leave out little toys or items that I could swallow. My condition is extreme enough that I will try to chew electric cords so I need to have special protective tubing and child safety outlets. I probably can't be loose in a whole home that isn't chew proofed. The first item I swallowed was a toy ball and the second was a bunch of leaves. No houseplants in my new home please because I compulsively try to eat them. My surgeries were life threatening and expensive so it's very important I find a person who will make sure I don't have anything dangerous I can get into. My family had to rehome me when they couldn't afford my 2nd surgery at the emergency vet. The people at Animal Aid have taken me for a behavior specialist and a internal medicine specialist to see if they could solve my compulsive pica. They tried many medicines and special foods and nothing has really slowed down my urge to chew and swallow certain items.
I am looking for a special foster home or adoptive home that is very meticulous about not having things out that I could swallow!
My estimated birthdate is 2/1/2019.
