Feliz Navidad (Felix)'s Story
Poor Felix arrived at the shelter covered in puncture wounds and lacerations, unfixed, and only about two years old. The shelter held him for a couple of weeks while he healed and was fixed before adopting him out, but less than a month later, he was returned. The adopter claimed Felix had bitten them. In that environment, the report all but sealed his fate, and he was given just a few days before the euthanasia order was issued.

Videos taken by shelter volunteers showed a sweet, gentle cat desperate for love and affection. There was no hissing, no aggression, no real fear—just confusion and sadness. A plea went out, and our director stumbled on it -- and something spoke to her. We don't usually pull from the shelter -- but she couldn't let this cat die.

Mere moments before he was scheduled to be euthanized, she rushed in to rescue him. As she was leaving the facility, two young women rushed in looking for him -- they had driven all the way from Las Vegas to save Felix. After talking with them and making sure they were truly prepared for his needs, and completing our adoption questionnaire and contract, we agreed to transfer ownership.

Feliz Navidad had a Holiday miracle and is now beginning a whole new life with someone who understands what it means to care for a cat and is looking forward to loving him for the next 20 years or more.
