Meet Fear (spirit cat)

What is a spirit cat?

Spirit Cats are special home companions. These cats are usually very shy with people. They live in your home, but are rarely seen - visitors will probably never see them. We don’t always know what a cat’s life was like before they were brought to the shelter. They may have had difficult or limited experiences with people or did not have socialization at a young enough age.

Spirit Cats are likely to spend their time hiding and might not like a lot of attention. They prefer a quiet environment with preferably no children and having a set routine when they can expect your daily interaction, whether it's feeding on a schedule, changing litter on a schedule, etc. Visitors may never even see these spirits. But one day, if the cat has determined that you’ve earned their trust, a spirit cat might rest on the couch next to you or share the same space as you. While not always ideal for families wanting regular interaction with the cats in their home, spirit cats can also make great friends for other cats in your home who might benefit from a companion on the more shy side. While we can make no guarantees that a cat will ever feel comfortable around humans, these cats are just as special and deserving of love and a safe home as others. People who house spirit cats find the experience to be very rewarding and revel in any progress made with the cat and their comfortability in the home.
