SOS Prairie Rescue’s adoption policies are designed to ensure safe, responsible, and lifelong placements. All adopters must complete an application and participate in a review process that considers the needs of both the cat and the adopter’s household. We prioritize appropriate matches based on lifestyle, environment, and the individual cat’s temperament and needs. Adoption contracts are required and include mandatory spay/neuter, veterinary care standards, and a commitment to humane treatment. Adoption fees help offset veterinary and care costs. We provide adopters with guidance, education, and ongoing support, and require that cats be returned to SOS Prairie Rescue if an adoption cannot be maintained. Our goal is to place cats in stable, permanent homes while supporting adopters every step of the way.
