Elvis- Special Needs's Story

ELVIS

You would never know from Elvis’s sweet demeanor that he was trapped during a TNR mission. He had severe injuries, the underside of his body was sliced up from a fight with a wild animal or dog. He showed us how sweet and friendly he really is while he recovered from his neuter and injuries and we knew we couldn’t release him back out, he deserves a chance at an indoor home. However, he tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and that cemented our decision to keep him until we found him a home he deserves.

Elvis is a purr machine who loves having his chin scratched and taking naps in a warm lap. He meows for attention, and will follow you around all day long because he loves you so much. He has been waiting for a home and yearns to play with human and/or furry friends.

Elvis is positive for FeLV, a virus that weakens the immune system. It is not highly contagious to other cats but is transmitted through prolonged contact with saliva, bodily fluids, grooming or shared drinking bowls. However, it is not a death sentence and will not shorten Elvis’s lifespan if he is in an stress-free home and receives routine vet care like any other cat. He has been seen by a vet and is in great health with no signs of progression. Elvis will need a home where he is either the only cat, living with other FELV+ cats, or with dogs as this virus is feline specific.

Elvis is a 3 yr old tuxedo male, neutered, UTD on vaccines, flea and tick treated, dewormed, FIV negative, and FELV positive. There will be an adoption fee and application requiring personal references, vet reference if applicable, and a home check.
