Elijah joined Kindred Spirits Rescue in a unique way. Elijah’s mom loved him very much. When she could no longer keep him, Kindred Spirits Rescue was asked to foster Elijah until he could be placed in a forever loving home. Could that home be yours?<br/><br/>Elijah is a handsome 8-year old brown tabby with copper undertones, big beautiful eyes, and is front declawed. This change had been a bit hard on him but despite this move to a new and unfamiliar home, he never displayed any behaviors other than gratitude for being loved. We know he is an absolute sweetheart underneath his shyness. He's shown signs of that already, by pushing his head into a gentle hand and seeking the comfort of people he knows. The only life he knew before was with his past mom. His world was turned upside down losing her so abruptly, but his heart is starting to heal. We would love for him to go to a kind and gentle person, ready to help Elijah feel at home again. <br/><br/>An ideal home for Elijah would be one in which he would be an only cat. He likes to observe other cats and dogs, but doesn’t seem to enjoy interactions with them. He is most comfortable in a "safe" area where he can be enclosed yet have the ability to watch what is happening. So far, this has been his carrier that he came to our rescue with. When he has a safe place to decompress he is much more willing to open up to making new friendships. Once Elijah trusts you, he will give you his whole heart. He loves to be pet and will carry on a conversation with his person. Ellijah’s new person will need to be patient and understand that moving to another home will be a hard change for him. He has proven that he can adjust to change, and we have faith that he will flourish in a home environment. We've fostered cats similar to Elijah in the past and they have gone on to live normal lives in loving homes. Elijah is about 6 years old, neutered, front declawed, up-to-date on rabies/distemper vaccines, and microchipped. He's had no obvious health issues in his time with us and has excellent litter box habits.
