Elemi's Story
You should adopt Elemi because as her foster caregiver, I'm being accused of trying to keep her and that simply isn't true. She has plenty of characteristics that would tempt me to do so, but I'm a responsible person who knows when enough cats are enough cats. BUT- you can be the adopter who proves me right by adopting this wonderful little girl!

Elemi started out very reserved and shy. She was going to become a Toilet Cat (def. a cat who is so scared of everything they hide behind the toilet or other hard-to-reach place more often than not) if someone didn't intervene in her socialization. With the help of her new social foster siblings and foster home, Elemi blossomed! Now, she is fairly outgoing and doesn't spend much time hiding. She isn't glued to someone's side all the time, but she demands attention when she does come around. Not too clingy, but still asks for petting and connection.

Something you should know about Elemi is how she melts when she's held on her back in a sort-of football/baby hold. I couldn't tell you if this is a case of her actually liking it or myself desensitizing her to it. Regardless, she doesn't try to get out of it so I have to assume that means she at least tolerates it. She will also willingly lay on her back, almost in a sitting position, in the crook of my elbow while we're in bed. Her purr is subtle, but it can be felt when you hold her like that.

She's been around large dogs now, specifically a very nosy Samoyed who likes to torment her by poking her belly and barking in her face. She's learned that running away just incites chasing, so she puts up with it until the dog gets bored and finds something else to entertain her. Other cats and kittens are more fun for Elemi to play with and it doesn't matter if she's lived with them for months or just met them. She acted like she didn't care when she met her newest foster-siblings who got very hissy and poofy at her. Elemi went straight to their food bowl and ate for 10 minutes while they calmed down.

Elemi is waiting for her new home that I hope you can give her since I can't, and she will give you all the snuggles and smiles in return for a lifetime.

If you're interested in Elemi, please contact A.W.W. by calling or texting 715-501-3000, emailing at rescue.aww@gmail.com, messaging our Facebook page, or visit our website www.animalwelfarewi.org to fill out an adoption application under our "Services" and "Adopt" pages.
