Eileen's Story

Meet Eileen!

Eileen is a sweet and petite little wallflower who wants nothing more than a calm, quiet home where she can feel safe. She startles easily and her first reaction to most new things is to hiss and hide, but with time and patience she begins to show the soft, affectionate personality tucked underneath her shyness.

As she settles in, Eileen reveals her charming routines. She is very wetfood motivated and will trot over with tiny mews to let you know dinner should be served. Once she trusts you, she enjoys gentle pets from the side or back, and her newest favorite thing is curling around your feet and rubbing on your legs while you work at the computer. It is her quiet way of saying she feels comfortable.

Eileen has also made steady progress with other animals. She will initially hiss at new pets, but she has learned to coexist peacefully with chill cats, and she is comfortable with an elderly dog who ignores her. She has come a long way in her foster home and simply needs time, space, and a patient adopter to fully blossom.

Eileen is FIV-positive, but that doesn't slow her down one bit. FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives and don't require any special care beyond routine vet visits — just love, good food, and a safe indoor home. She's ready for a family who will finally give her the forever home she's been waiting for.

Adoption Information

Prior to adoption, every cat in our care is spayed or neutered, microchipped, given age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for parasites, and combo-tested for FIV/FeLV. We make sure each cat is healthy, safe, and ready to thrive in their forever home.

Adoption Fees

Kittens (under 6 months): $175 or 2 for $300

Adults (over 6 months): $150

Seniors (10+) / Special Needs: $100

Please Note:

We cannot hold cats for any reason. Please only apply if you're ready to meet and welcome your new companion within 3 days of applying.

Kittens under 4 months must go to a home with another friendly feline, or be adopted with a buddy. (If a kitten is excluded from this rule, it will be noted in their profile.)

TO ADOPT, ONE MUST Have current photo identification with your current address Be willing and able to spend the time & money needed to care for your cat Carefully read the terms of our Adoption Contract and agree to its terms. Agree that if they cannot keep the cat they have adopted from St. Sophia’s, they must return the cat to us Agree to allow an authorized representative of St. Sophia’s to make an adoption follow-up THE PROCESS Adopting should never be an impulse decision — pets are for life. We respectfully ask that you come fully prepared to take on the care of a cat prior to filling out an application. On average, owning a cat costs $40 a month (food/litter/health), which is $480 annually. Cats (especially kittens) take lots of time, dedication, and love to grow and develop into loving and healthy household pets. Because we at St. Sophia’s pride ourselves in knowing our cats, we want what’s best for them, and to ensure they are going to good homes we conduct reference checks (personal and veterinary) in addition to the basic application. Please expect the adoption process to take at least 24 hours, and when your adoption is finalized, you’ll need to bring a carrier to take your new pet home in.
