Edith's Story
Edith had been with her previous owner since she was a kitten. For nearly 13 years of life, she'd known the love and care of one family.

When it was time to move across the country one fateful night, the weary travelers stopped to stay the night at a hotel. Unfortunately, when it came time to pack up the next day, Edith was nowhere to be found. Thinking she had somehow got out, they left for the road. It turned out, however, that Edith was hiding in the box spring, scared in this foreign place without the comforts she was used to, and the housekeepers heard meowing when they entered to clean the room.

She was taken to the city shelter, who made every effort to reconnect her with her family. It was a painful decision for the owner, but they ultimately had to surrender Edith when they couldn't get back to her. The shelter immediately began working to find Edith a new home, as the threat of euthanasia loomed over.

That's when Shadow Cats stepped in. It was suspected that she had diabetes, but this lucky girl appears to be in remission, though we are still closely monitoring her numbers. She is not currently on a special diet or any medication other than joint supplements.

Edith is very sweet and gentle. She is a little shy and prefers to eat her food with company nearby. Once she gets to know you she loves rubbing her head into your chest, or your legs, or your shoes... you get the picture. Edith is a big talker and has this gravely voice that's hard not to love. She loves lounging on the top of the recliners in our office and breakroom. She tolerates other cats but is not friendly with them, and she does not like loud noises.

Edith longs for the perfect quiet home to spend the rest of her days, but in the meantime we are happy to have her here with us.

**Edith is in diabetic remission and requires close monitoring as a result. She is also declawed and needs an owner understanding of how that impacts her life.**
