Edamame's Story
IMPORTANT - HOW TO APPLY: If you're interested in meeting Edamame, you need to first submit an application on our website: winonahumane.org/adopt. Our Feline Director will then contact you to set up a time to visit (our building is operating with scheduled visits). Please email with any questions about Edamame or her adoption process!

Personality description:
Meet Edamame, a teenage kitten who’s ready to put the busy shelter life behind her and get established in a patient, understanding, and quiet forever home.

Edamame and her siblings were living outside in a feral cat colony until a community member took action to stop the cycle. Momma was spayed to prevent future breeding, and her kittens entered WAHS’ foster system to help them experience the kindness that people can provide. Some of the siblings took to their new life with ease, while others have been slower to build trust. One of those felines is Edamame.

Although Edamame’s still uncertain around strangers and lots of commotion, she’s progressed leaps and bounds in a few short months – both in her foster home, and while living at the shelter. Edamame went from being the most scared of her litter to one whose progress is frequently noticed by staff and volunteers alike! She adores treats (especially Squeeze-Ups), quiet moments just existing together, and playtime with her feline friends. Having a cat buddy is essential for Edamame’s long-term happiness.

To feel fully comfortable, Edamame definitely needs a home that’s tranquil; somewhere that she can acclimate and branch out at her own pace. We’ve seen cats just like Edamame completely transform into affection-obsessed cats with the right adopter, and we’ve also seen them remain as independent household members who appreciate their own space. It’ll be crucial that Edamame’s adopter be accepting of either outcome and love her exactly how she is.

Please consider filling out an application on winonahumane.org/adopt to learn more. It doesn’t mean you’re committing to adopt her, but it at least gets the conversation started – and gives Edamame a chance. She truly needs a hero to help her shine; perhaps that could be you!

Additional bio info: female, Domestic Short Hair, brown tabby, approximately 8-9 months old, up-to-date on vaccinations, FIV/FeLV-, spayed, microchipped
