Earl Grey's Story

Hi, I’m Earl Grey, a hot but not too spicy guy that arrived in my foster-home in March (2026). At that time, it was estimated that I was still a younger cat between 1-2 years old.

I was really scared when I moved in. I tried to hide, a lot. No one was sure if I was even very friendly, but guess what, after 2 months behind the sofa, I got curious. Before long, I was checking out every closet, bookcase, piece of furniture I could get under or behind and just kept watching. I figured out that people brought the food, and made the toys move, and kept the dog away from me. Now I’m just curious about everything that they do and want to hang out nearby. Turns out that I really like being near humans, and I like head rubs.

In my ideal home, I would have a full time human or two to keep me company. A companion kitty would also be nice for when the humans aren’t home. I’m not needy for one, but I do like to play-fight with the other fosters, and it’s nice to have friends. My fosters think that a kitty that is already comfortable with their humans would help me adjust to a new home. My new home will also have lots of plastic springs, a cat tree in a window (I found out that those are really cool), a human that will play with me using feather wand toys, and a wet food supper at least once a day.

I would prefer a quiet home because I still get startled by loud noise or quick movement meaning that younger children may be too much for me, and I definitely do not want a dog. The barking bothers me, and I go hide, I don’t hide for long but I don’t like going in the same room with the dog.

I really like to be near my fosters, and I can be picked up and placed on a chair or bed but cannot be held. I also discovered that when I go to be with them, I can attack their feet under the blankets. Bed-mouse is the best game ever! Chin and head rubs are mandatory when I am nearby, and sometimes I’ll pull a hand back for more, but I don’t quite get close enough to cuddle. My fosters think that I might someday, with the right patient people.

My fosters tell me that I have super silky hair, and fortunately for all of us, it is not prone to matting. I am starting to get used to a brush though. It’s not my favourite, but I am getting attention when they brush me, and I love attention.

Please consider adopting Earl Grey into your loving home. If you can't adopt him, please share his story and help him find his forever home.

If you are interested in adopting Earl Grey, please contact us at frederictoncarma@gmail.com.

Fill out an adoption application here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfZFfrReR_SFRgIQYba6kxfNkxsiQ0bktXtIIrJb_ZRPKQbcg/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1U6c4NbehUd-O2WaqGAxpZvrcuovBBlDXKgSEGbvyZGPkORDyB21KaHGs

As of October 2024, the adoption donations will be:

- Adult cat (over 12 months): $125
- Kitten (12 months and under): $200

Would you like to make a one-time donation to help cats like Earl Grey?
