Dusty's Story
Courtesy Post! Foster or Adopter needed!

Dusty is quite a character! He's so playful and silly, especially with his foster sister Bluebell. He'll act all chill like he's just casually doing a big stretchhhhh, and then start touching innocent little Bluebell until she can't help but give him her attention. He loves looking out the window and lying on the back of the sofa.

Dusty came from a colony where cats were being TNRd, meaning volunteers would humanely trap, neuter, and then return the cats to the outside colony where they had been living. Nearly all the cats were feral and uninterested in being friends with humans. But Dusty, Bluebell, and Cowboy seemed friendly and let one of the volunteers pet them through the trap, and leaned in for more. She wanted to see if indoor, real homes could be found for these nice cats.

Some cat colonies have devoted caretakers who can regularly feed the cats and even provide medical care if the cats get sick. Others, like the colony Dusty and the others came from, are not so fortunate.

The volunteer had to move quickly to find Dusty and the other two friendly cats a place to go temporarily while she searched for more permanent placements. At the very last minute, a kind foster home offered to keep them for a while so they could get used to being indoors and decompress. Their time in that foster home, however, is up, and they need new foster or forever homes now, or they will be heading back to the colony.

Here's what Dusty will need in his new foster or forever home: Patience. Dusty needs his people to give him space, time to settle in. He'd do best with people who don't mind sitting quietly in the room with him, without trying to touch him, pet him, or pick him up. People who are willing, ultimately, to let him come to them. If you're able to read a book, take a nap, contemplate life, while Dusty does his own thing, you just might be the perfect match for him.

Dusty deserves to spend his days napping, not worrying about predators sneaking up on him outside.

Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more info. Dusty's in the Kansas City metro, but transport might be available to the right home.
